Abstract
The paper suggests a practical procedure, based upon the infinite body effect, to be used as a preliminary assessment of numerical solutions and experimental findings in dynamic fracture mechanics. The application of the procedure is demonstrated by three cases of dynamic fracture in the DCB, SEN and Griffith specimens.
