Abstract

The overeview summarizes past and present research on short-wavelength chemical lasers (SWCL) with special emphasis on recent advances in the field. Guidelines for developing SWCL and most promising candidates are presented. It is concluded that premixed, pulsed chemical lasers may have some inherent advantages over their continuous-wave counterparts for operating a long sought after viable SWCL.
