Abstract

The complex between a new donor, 2,3,6,7-tetra(ethyltellura)tetrathiafulvalene (TETeTTF) and TCNQ has been prepared and characterized. Crystals of the complex are trilinic, P1 with a = 9.9245(2) A ̊, b = 11.296 (3)c = 8.461 (2), α = 90.83(6)°, β = 107.8(5), γ = 101.3(5), and Z = 1. The structure was solved by direct methods and refined anisotropically on 2291 reflections to R = 0.051, Rw = 0.072. The molecules are packed in mixed stacks with interplanar spacing of 3.30 Å. Geometric and spectroscopic considerations indicate a degree of charge transfers of ca 0.6. The room temperature conductively (10-2 Ω-1 cm-1 is in the semiconductor region.
