Abstract

Introduction Dissolution of rocks and precipitation of secondary mineral induced by CO2 injection could potentially change the physical properties of the geological formations and thus influence the transport and injectivity of the injected CO2 during its storage in saline aquifers. In the present study the thermodynamics and kinetics of gypsum precipitation (a common secondary mineral) under P-T conditions relevant to CGS, were extensible studied.
