Abstract
In a large number of papers concerned with the theory of chirowaveguides the main attention is given to analysis of dispersion characteristics. Nevertheless, it is very important to solve the excitation problem for chirowaveguides. The author attempts to consider the general case of the excitation problem in chirowaveguides. It is shown that in the presence of longitudinal currents as sources of excitation, it is more mathematically correct to use the so-called spectral method rather than the reciprocity relation. On the basis of such a theory the coupled-mode formalism is developed.
