Thermodynamic analysis of steel articles siliconizing via chloride phase

Abstract

For the purpose of thermodynamic analysis of the Fe-Si-Cl-H system, the Fe-Si solid solution equilibrium with the gas phase is considered. It is found that partial pressure of hydrogen and temperature influence much on the iron siliconizing process via the gas phase. The technological parameters are discussed to produce the given composition alloy as well as to protect the article surface from oxidation.
