    Abstract

Operative interruption of the thoracic sympathetic pathway is indicated in the treatment of a variety of sympathetic disorders, e.g. hyperhidrosis (commonest), facial blushing, Raynaud’s disease, splanchnic pain, and reflux sympathetic dystrophy. In children, however, palmar hyperhidrosis is the only disorder in which sympathectomy is indicated.
