Abstract

A three level scheme (1S0, 3P0, 3P1) of Bi3+ ion in Cs symmetry is used to explain radiative and non-radiative mechanisms in germanate glasses under selective excitation by a pulsed nitrogen laser which allows the lowest 3P1 Stark component to be pumped.
