Abstract

A new and original way of covering long spans is presented. Prestressing by the action of steel cables serves as a means of, joining the grid elements and as a means of erecting the complete structure. The prestressed grids do not require connecting devices between the grid elements, nor do they require scaffoldings or cranes for erection. The structure thus erected can be dismounted as simply as it was erected. Such grids may be applicable as framework for long span roofs of temporary structures, such as hangars or exhibition halls.
