Abstract

To the Editor: The results recently reported by Case et al. (March 21 issue)¹ are disturbing indeed to those of us who have accepted the basic validity of Friedman and Rosenman's Type A behavior pattern as a risk factor for new and recurrent ischemic cardiac events.²³⁴⁵⁶⁷⁸⁹ This study is the first of acceptable methods to refute the role of the Type A behavior pattern as a predictor of recurrent coronary events.¹⁰, ¹¹ Although the Jenkins Activity Survey may not be the best predictor of the onset or progression of coronary heart disease,¹² no one can seriously dispute its validity as.
