N2 - We show that the second harmonic generation from a subwavelength bi-metal dimer has some unique features that set it apart from the conventional view of this case. A model based on quasistatic interactions between oscillating charges is in good agreement with experiments. Based on this model, we explore higher harmonics generation, optical rectification, and chaos.
