Abstract

The frequency of occurrence of a configuration, such as a vertex, is an important characteristic of a tiling. Conventionally one deduces this frequency from the volume of the corresponding acceptance domain (alias window) in perpendicular space. The method fails in the case of the Stampfli tiling which has a fractal window. We have overcome this difficulty by using the inflation symmetry of the square-triangle tiling.
