Vibrational spectroscopy and intramolecular dynamics of 1-butyne

Abstract

The photodissociation of jet-cooled, vibrationally excited 1-butyne and its photoacoustic (PA) spectra were investigated. The intramolecular vibrational energy distribution (IVR) lifetimes for 1-butyne were found to be ≈500 ps, and later on ≈70 ps. Rotational constants and estimates for the homogeneous broadening, arising from IVR to the bath vibrational states were obtained by asymmetric rotor simulation of the band contours. The results of the Doppler profiles of the H photofragments reveal that they are released with low average translational energies, thereby indicating the occurrence of indirect dissociation process following internal conversion to the ground state.
