Abstract

Using Villain transformation (discrete periodic Gaussian model) the I-V characteristic of normal and Josephson junctions is calculated in the limit of low temperatures and currents. The influence of the interference between Cooper pair and quasiparticle currents on the average voltage was considered. Also Villain approximation is applied to investigate the phase transition in an array of normal junctions with random tunnelling between different sites. The re-entrant behaviour of the system was found.
