Abstract
A new technique of ion exchange treatment for waste water was studied. The anion exchange resin was regenerated by lime according to the DUCOL Process. The cation exchange resin was also treated by lime release organic matter and regenerated by hydrochloric acid. Waters containing about 25 meg/lit inorganic salts and 200 mg/kit COD were treated. The effluent waters were neutral (pH similar 7. 6) with leakage of 2. 7 meg/lit, 26 mg/lit COD and contained only traces of organic nitrogen compound, ammonia nitrates and detergents. No fouling was observed throughout 23 cycles in which about 1000 bed volumes were treated.
