Abstract

Transpiration losses represent a limited proportion of harvested water. This water surplus will lead to a localised increased in available soil water stored at depth that could support carob trees having leaf surface areas > 13 m2. The leaf area of such trees would be substantial for evergreen woody plants growing on hillslopes in the Negev. -from Authors
