WEAR CHARACTERISTICS AND APPLICATION LIMITS OF CONTACTING FRICTION PAIR MATERIALS. PART 2.

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

An analysis is presented of the nature of the wear of contacting copper-steel friction pair materials. It is found that the wear mechanisms of the friction pair materials depend on the ratio of their strength properties and the magnitude of the working stresses. The authors propose a structural criterion for applicability of materials in friction, bounding the region of stresses that do not lead to severe wear.
