Abstract
A novel automatic wide dynamic range sensor (AWDRS) which can be incorporated in any sensing device, for instance a CCD array, is presented. This sensor can achieve a dynamic range of 16-bits with negligible change in spatial resolution. Due to the minimal added circuitry the above resolution is thus obtained. This advantage does not require any payment in time resolution.
