Abstract

Although wine production is one of the oldest industries established by humankind, the modern wine industry utilizes special equipment, mostly made from austenitic stainless steel, to avoid corrosion, scale formation, and the appearance of contaminants. Additional engineering materials used are fber-reinforced plastics, glass for bottles, and wood for tonels and casks.
