Abstract

A Z - accelerator Dot sensor (D - dot mode) is targeted to measure fast rise time voltage signals which are transmitted along a coaxial cable. The surrounding environment of a Dot sensor is gamma rays colliding with air molecules (high - altitude electromagnetic pulse (HEMP)) and plasma expansion (magneto hydro dynamic electromagnetic pulse (MHD-EMP)) influence the measurements and need to be measured. The Dot sensor purpose is to supply read of signal which is caused by pulse propagating to the inner conductor of the coaxial D - dot probe. The delay parameters τ1, τ2 characterise the HEMP and MHD-EMP interaction (parasitic effects which are second components of HEMP and MHD-EMP) with the Dot sensor. The investigation of electromagnetic pulses and Dot sensor system is based on nonlinear dynamic theory which describes changes in system variables over time, which can be chaotic, unpredictable, or counterintuitive. The target is to optimise Dot probe sensor parameters in the accelerator environment and understand the HEMP and MHD-EMP disturbances.
