Abstract
The populations of the Z and E rotamers relative to the amide bond is methylhydrazides of aromatic acids are determined by concentration effects and the nature of the substituents in the aromatic ring. The values of the free ene gy of activation for Z-E isomerization varies from 13.5 to 16.0 kcal/mole and correlation with the constants of Swain and Lupton.
